TRANSPORTATION IN BANGKOK

Bangkok (the capital of Thailand) is a huge city. Every day there are more than 15 million people. Even infrastructure is very good, you can expect traffic jam every day. There are many options that you can use as your transportation.

Taxi:

Cheapest than you expect for sure, because we have a lot of cab drivers and plenty of people that use it every day. Start is 35 Baht (around 0.90 Euro and around 1.10 US Dollar). But taxi can be easily stuck in traffic jam, especially from 7 until 10 am and from 4:30 until 8 pm. Anyway, there are no strict rules for that, traffic jam can be any time. If it's rainy day that is extra hard time for drivers.

Tuk-tuk:

Typical for Bangkok. Very interesting way to move from one place to another. Foreigners likes it and Thai people also. Can be stuck in the traffic jam same as taxi. Tuk-tuk usually drive just small destinations but you can make any dill with tuk-tuk driver. You can even make small tour in the Bangkok. You can negotiate about the price and you must try it :-) .

Good choice if you don't want to have problems with traffic jam, because they can go between cars better than you expect. They got use of it. Only thing is that just one guy can go with it. Sometimes, but just sometimes, they are willing to accept two persons. You can negotiate about the price, but anyway is not expensive.

MRT - Subway:

If you know where you should go out from metro, this is excellent way to go from one to another destination in Bangkok. If you don't know, you can always ask the staff. They are willing to help you any time. It is cheap and no traffic jam. The price depends how many stations you are going and star from 15 Baht (0.39 Euro and 3.48 US Dollar), until 40 Baht (1.03 Euro and 1.27 US Dollar). From 03. October 2012., until 02. July 2014. price will be increase, but don't worry just one more Baht, from 16 until 40 Baht (big difference :-) ). You can buy 1 Day Pass for 120 Baht (3.10 Euro and 3.82 US Dollar) and 3 Days Pass for 230 Baht (5.94 Euro and 7.32 Dollar). MRT operate from 6 am, until 12 pm (midnight).

BTS - Sky Train:

Good choice. I prefer Sky Train because you have beautiful view of Bangkok from the higher level. Same as MRT, the price depends how many stations you are going and start from 15 Baht for one station and going until 40 Baht. Also, for BTS you can buy 1 Day Pass for 130 Baht per person (3.36 Euro and 4.14 US Dollar). BTS operate from 6 am, until 12 pm (midnight).

Bus:

Extremely cheap. The price can be just few Bahts, depends how many stations you are going with it. If bus doesn't have air-condition the price is the same, no matter how many stations you going. Can be also for free, that government provide it and that bus is red color without air-condition, like this one from the picture below.

Boat:

Very interesting for tourists. From the Chao Phraya river you can see many interesting thing like: Grand Palace, Temple of down ... but this is a story for another time. They have 4 kinds of the boat and the price going from 10 Baht until 32 Baht (0.26 - 0.83 Euro and 0.32 - 1.02 US Dollar). For more information's you can check this website: www.chaophrayaexpressboat.com. (Official website).

That's it, I have to go now and I will use Sky Train. Bye bye...
