IMPORTANCE OF COLORS IN THAILAND

Thai people believe that every day has color. Thai and Kmer people have astrological rule which has influence from Hindu mythology. The color is based on the color of the God who protects the day. Example, the God of Sunday is Suriya which is red color.
These colors of the day are the traditional Thai birthday colors. Highly respected King Bhumibol was born on monday  and his birthday through Thailand will be decorated with yellow color. Rules are going like this:

(day/God/color)

1. Monday / Chandra / Yellow
2. Tuesday / Mangala / Pink
3. Wednesday / Buddha / Green
4. Thursday / Brihaspati / Orange
5. Friday / Shukra / Light blue
6. Saturday / Shani / Black
7. Sunday / Suria /Red.

Importance of colors in Thailand is also based on color that you gonna wear. So depends of the color you can have success, lucky, you can be powerful, people will help you if you need it, you can fight (any kind of fight not just fiscally), you also can be sick and finally you can die.

That look like this:

Monday: light blue, grey and cream - success/ pink - lucky/ black and dark blue - powerful/ white - help/ orange, yellow and purple - fighting/ red - sick/ green - die.

Tuesday: black and dark blue - success/ green - lucky/ red - powerful/ pink - help/ light blue, grey and cream - fighting/ white - sick/ orange, yellow and purple - die.

Wednesday: red - success/ orange, yellow and purple - lucky/ white - powerful/ green - help/ black and dark blue - fighting/ pink - sick/ light blue, grey and cream - die.

Thursday: white - success/ light blue, grey and cream - lucky/ pink - powerful/ orange, yellow and purple - help/ red - fighting/ green - sick/ black, grey and cream - die.

Friday: pink - success/ black and dark blue - lucky/ green - powerful/ light blue, gray and cream - help/ white - fighting/ orange, yellow and purple - sick/ red - die.

Saturday: brown - success/ red - lucky/ orange, yellow and purple - powerful/ black and dark blue - help/ pink - fighting/ light blue, gray and cream - sick/ pink - die.

Sunday: orange, yellow and purple - success/ white - lucky/ grey and cream - powerful/ red - help/ green - fighting/ black and dark blue - sick/ pink - die.

Looks like little bit too much to remember it, but I would like to say those rules are very old and Thai people don't  pay attention a lot anymore, especially young population.

Regards from amazing Thailand :-) .
