IMPORTANCE OF COLORS IN THAILAND
Thai people believe that every day has color. Thai and Kmer people have astrological rule which has influence from Hindu mythology. The color is based on the color of the God who protects the day. Example, the God of Sunday is Suriya which is red color.
These colors of the day are the traditional Thai birthday colors. Highly respected King Bhumibol was born on monday and his birthday through Thailand will be decorated with yellow color. Rules are going like this:
(day/God/color)
1. Monday / Chandra / Yellow
2. Tuesday / Mangala / Pink
3. Wednesday / Buddha / Green
4. Thursday / Brihaspati / Orange
5. Friday / Shukra / Light blue
6. Saturday / Shani / Black
7. Sunday / Suria /Red.
Importance of colors in Thailand is also based on color that you gonna wear. So depends of the color you can have success, lucky, you can be powerful, people will help you if you need it, you can fight (any kind of fight not just fiscally), you also can be sick and finally you can die.
That look like this:
Monday: light blue, grey and cream - success/ pink - lucky/ black and dark blue - powerful/ white - help/ orange, yellow and purple - fighting/ red - sick/ green - die.
Tuesday: black and dark blue - success/ green - lucky/ red - powerful/ pink - help/ light blue, grey and cream - fighting/ white - sick/ orange, yellow and purple - die.
Wednesday: red - success/ orange, yellow and purple - lucky/ white - powerful/ green - help/ black and dark blue - fighting/ pink - sick/ light blue, grey and cream - die.
Thursday: white - success/ light blue, grey and cream - lucky/ pink - powerful/ orange, yellow and purple - help/ red - fighting/ green - sick/ black, grey and cream - die.
Friday: pink - success/ black and dark blue - lucky/ green - powerful/ light blue, gray and cream - help/ white - fighting/ orange, yellow and purple - sick/ red - die.
Saturday: brown - success/ red - lucky/ orange, yellow and purple - powerful/ black and dark blue - help/ pink - fighting/ light blue, gray and cream - sick/ pink - die.
Sunday: orange, yellow and purple - success/ white - lucky/ grey and cream - powerful/ red - help/ green - fighting/ black and dark blue - sick/ pink - die.
Looks like little bit too much to remember it, but I would like to say those rules are very old and Thai people don't pay attention a lot anymore, especially young population.
Regards from amazing Thailand :-) .

TRANSPORTATION IN BANGKOK
Bangkok (the capital of Thailand) is a huge city. Every day there are more than 15 million people. Even infrastructure is very good, you can expect traffic jam every day. There are many options that you can use as your transportation.
Taxi:
Cheapest than you expect for sure, because we have a lot of cab drivers and plenty of people that use it every day. Start is 35 Baht (around 0.90 Euro and around 1.10 US Dollar). But taxi can be easily stuck in traffic jam, especially from 7 until 10 am and from 4:30 until 8 pm. Anyway, there are no strict rules for that, traffic jam can be any time. If it's rainy day that is extra hard time for drivers.
Tuk-tuk:
Typical for Bangkok. Very interesting way to move from one place to another. Foreigners likes it and Thai people also. Can be stuck in the traffic jam same as taxi. Tuk-tuk usually drive just small destinations but you can make any dill with tuk-tuk driver. You can even make small tour in the Bangkok. You can negotiate about the price and you must try it :-) .
Motorcycle:
Good choice if you don't want to have problems with traffic jam, because they can go between cars better than you expect. They got use of it. Only thing is that just one guy can go with it. Sometimes, but just sometimes, they are willing to accept two persons. You can negotiate about the price, but anyway is not expensive.
MRT - Subway:
If you know where you should go out from metro, this is excellent way to go from one to another destination in Bangkok. If you don't know, you can always ask the staff. They are willing to help you any time. It is cheap and no traffic jam. The price depends how many stations you are going and star from 15 Baht (0.39 Euro and 3.48 US Dollar), until 40 Baht (1.03 Euro and 1.27 US Dollar). From 03. October 2012., until 02. July 2014. price will be increase, but don't worry just one more Baht, from 16 until 40 Baht (big difference :-) ). You can buy 1 Day Pass for 120 Baht (3.10 Euro and 3.82 US Dollar) and 3 Days Pass for 230 Baht (5.94 Euro and 7.32 Dollar). MRT operate from 6 am, until 12 pm (midnight).
BTS - Sky Train:
Good choice. I prefer Sky Train because you have beautiful view of Bangkok from the higher level. Same as MRT, the price depends how many stations you are going and start from 15 Baht for one station and going until 40 Baht. Also, for BTS you can buy 1 Day Pass for 130 Baht per person (3.36 Euro and 4.14 US Dollar). BTS operate from 6 am, until 12 pm (midnight).
Bus:
Extremely cheap. The price can be just few Bahts, depends how many stations you are going with it. If bus doesn't have air-condition the price is the same, no matter how many stations you going. Can be also for free, that government provide it and that bus is red color without air-condition, like this one from the picture below.
Boat:
Very interesting for tourists. From the Chao Phraya river you can see many interesting thing like: Grand Palace, Temple of down ... but this is a story for another time. They have 4 kinds of the boat and the price going from 10 Baht until 32 Baht (0.26 - 0.83 Euro and 0.32 - 1.02 US Dollar). For more information's you can check this website: www.chaophrayaexpressboat.com. (Official website).
That's it, I have to go now and I will use Sky Train. Bye bye...

THAI LANGUAGE - THE BASIC WORDS
Lot of foreigners says, when they hear Thai language , it is sound like a song. "Thai people, they don't speak, they sing" :-). Thai language is tonal language and can be difficult for foreigners to speak because the same word with different ton can have absolutely different meaning. Anyway I know some foreigners who stay in Thailand long time and they can speak Thai language very well.
With this article I don't wont to teach you Thai language, I would just teach you some easy words that can be helpful if you decide to visit Thailand.
"Sawady Krab" - means :Hello" and also means "Bye", but if you say just "bye" they will understand because they also use that word.
"Khobkhun Krab" - means "Thank you" and "Khobkhun Mag Na Krab" - "Thanks a lot".
"Mai Pen Rai" - is the answer on "Khobkhun Krab" and means "You're welcome".
Just "Krab" don't have some special meaning. You can use it on the end of every sentence if you wont to be polite.
"Shai" - "Yes".
"Mai" - "No".
If you don't like spicy food you should know "Mai Pad Le Mai Sai Phrik" - no spicy and don't put chili. If you just say "Mai Pad" (no spicy) you have big chance to have chili in your food :-). If you wont just little bit spicy you can say "Pad Nit Noy" (little bit spicy), but you should know that Thai people eat very spicy food, so little bit spicy for them can be very spicy for you :-) .
In some food Thai people put sugar and if don't like that you should say "Mai Sai Nam Taaam" - means don't put sugar.
"Khotot" - (second letter "o" is little bit longer in pronunciation) means "Sorry".
Those words are enough for the first time and Thai people will like if you say something like this. Anyway, you don't have to be worry, Thai people that they work and live in touristic destinations, they can speak English language.
That's it for now and "Sawady Krab" :-).

THAI FOOD - HOT AND SPICY
It is well known that Thai food is hot and spicy. Almost all Thai food is cooked with basic ingredients as garlic, chilies, lime juice, lemon grass and fresh coriander leaf and fermented fish sauce or shrimp paste to make it salty. Don't be surprised if it is some food spicy and sweet at the same time :-) .
Other common seasoning in Thai food include black pepper, ground peanut, tamarind juice, ginger and coconut milk.
Actually, Thai food is different from region to region. Example, glutinous or sticky rice is more popular that steamed rice in the North and North-east of Thailand. Sticky rice is served with boiled vegetables, "Nam Phrik Oong" (minced pork, tomato and chili sauce) and soups or curries.
Nam Phrik Oong with Northern Thai Dry Fat Pork
Just "Nam Phrik" means chili sause and they have many kinds of it. The North is also well known for sausage called "Naem" which consists of fermented minced pork. It has a sour flavor and they sale it wrapped in cellophane and banana leaf.
Nam Phrik Noom - chili plate with Northern pork sausage
Food is mild or hot, salty and sour and sometimes sweet. In some rural areas, certain insects are also eaten (crickets, silk worm larvae, red ant larvae...).
I tried salted crickets and they are like snacks :-). Silk worm larvae are soft and I really like it (they have lot of proteins). In Pattaya I also tried scorpion, but there is no taste and some parts of it are difficult to masticate (no need to try).
Food in the North-east is hot, salty and sour at the same time. Their favorite food include "Som Tam" - papaya salad, "Koi" - sour chopped meat salad and "Larp" - sour minced meat salad. For "Koi" and "Larp" they can use beef or pork, but for "Koi" I think they don't cook that meat or they cook it just a few minutes. Their meals generally consist of sticky rice and "Nam Phrik Pla Raa" (fermented fish and chili sauce) with lot of vegetables including those found growing wild. I eat papaya salad almost every day, it is so delicious.
Som Tam - Papaya Salad
(peeled green papaya, garlic, fresh of dried red chilies, long green bean, dried shrimps, tomato, fish sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, roasted unsalted peanuts)
But if you don't like spicy you should say: Mai pad le mai sai prik (no spicy and don't put chili). If you say just Mai pad (no spicy) most of them will put chili and salad will be very spicy. Even if they don't put chili, but they don't wash container for preparing the salad you will feel little bit spicy. I usually say "Pad nit noy" - means little bit spicy.
In the central region of Thailand, food is hot, salty, sweet and sour at the same time. Rice is served with different types of "Nam Phrik" and soups. Example famous "Tom Yam Kung" (prawn soup with lemon grass).
Tom Yam Kung
In the South food is very hot, salty and sour. The most spicy food in Thailand is on the south. Curries are popular and they make it with a lot of spices and condiments. Generally they don't eat a lot of meat. Their food also consist a lot of sea food (my favorite is grilled squid).
Squid
Though the major portion of Thai food is described as being spiced and chili hot, it currently enjoys worldwide popularity, especially the exotic, already mentioned "Tom Yam Kung", uniquely piquant prawn soup that is renowned for its simplicity, creativity, artistic flair and delicious taste. (Ingredients: lemon grass, torn leech lime leaves, shrimps, hot chili, coriander leaves, fish sauce, lemon... sometimes they put lot of mushrooms and can be with coconut milk).
Anyway, in Thailand you can buy food everywhere, they sale it on every step.
Thai desserts are often made from sticky rice or coconut milk, flour, egg and coconut sugar while a variety of fruits is available all the year round.
About fruit and about Thai desserts, I will write some other time. Now it is a time for more pictures of Thai food.
